Folks, This will be a night of Classical Music like there has never been at Tsunami. Both Kara and Andrei have mesmerized us in previous performances. To have them sharing the night will be the rarest of treats for an intimate audience at Tsunami. (Program will be listed as it materializes).
Dr. Kara Eubanks
As a classical artist, Kara has performed solo and chamber music across the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Holland, and the Czech Republic. She has performed solo and chamber music in New York’s Music in Midtown series, the Pablo Casals Festival, Zeist Music Days, Ameropa Festival, Bowdoin Summer Music, and many more. She has performed at New York’s Lincoln Center and Chicago’s Symphony Center, in Napoleon’s castle in Paris and played sonatas with Mozart’s own piano at his former home in Prague.
Her orchestral career includes membership in the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the Fontainebleau Chamber Orchestra in Paris, and the DiCapo Opera of New York City. In 2014, she was inducted into the Sycamore Music Hall of Fame in her hometown of Sycamore, Illinois.
Kara’s greatest passions are solo practice and teaching. More than any stage or concert hall, Kara’s favorite place to make music is in her home studio with her own students. She is a mentor to 18 young violinists ranging in age from 3 to 18 at the Willamette Violin Academy, where she serves as director.
As a recording artist and popular-music performer. Kara has been featured on mtv.com, National Public Radio, and daytrotter.com, and on record labels such as Eenie Meenie and Lookout! Records. Her discography includes arrangements and performances with Troubled Hubble, The Gunshy, Future Monarchs, and Andrew Jackson Jihad. In 2023, she released her solo debut, an EP called “Something Might Otherwise Have Profitably Happened.” Kara maintains an active studio career, recording for artists from as far as Abu Dhabi in her home studio in Oregon.
Kara has held faculty positions at Northern Illinois University and CUNY Brooklyn Conservatory, and has taught music theory at the University of Oregon. In the summers, she teaches at Japan-Seattle Suzuki Institute and the Oregon Suzuki Institute. Her most dear and impactful teachers and trainers include Mathias Tacke, Shmuel Ashkenasi, Danny Phillips, Cyrus Forough, Ann Montzka Smelser, Ed Kreitman, Charles Krigbaum, Daina Staggs, and Jackie Bartsch. https://www.karaeubanks.com
About
Andrei Andreev was born in Kokjangack, a small town in Kyrgyzstan where he lived for fifteen years before his family moved to Saratov, Russia. Andrei completed his undergraduate degree at Saratov College of Arts and his graduate degree at Saratov State Conservatory. In both schools he attended Albert Tarakanov’s studio for piano performance. Albert Tarakanov is a pupil of Genrich Neuhaus, one of Russia’s most eminent pianists.
During his studies Andrei began touring Russia, Europe, China, and the United States. He performed in St. Petersburg: the Big Concert Hall of Catherine the Great Palace, the Big Hall of Music House (Дом Музыки), the Big Concert Hall «Beloselskich-Beloozerskich», Big Hall of Osobnyak Myasnikova, Palace of Architect. In Moscow – Glinka’s Museum, Gnessin Academy, private music Institutions. Also the Big Hall of the Saratov State Conservatory, Saratov State Philharmonia, Yaroslavl State Philharmonia with its Orchestra, Penza Philharmonia. In Europe, he performed in several churches and private events, in China he performed at several universities where he was also invited to give master-classes and lectures.
After completing his studies in Russia, Andrei performed for four years with the Saratov Philharmonic as the principal keyboardist. In addition to his performance career, Andrei also taught piano at the Saratov State Conservatory for several years.
Andrei has won many international and All-National Russian piano competition awards. Prizes include:
Silver Prize at International piano competition «European Virtuoso Music Award». Berlin, March 12, 2025
Saint-Saëns international music competition - DIAMOND prize for performing Beethoven sonata no. 4 and PLATINUM prize for Andrei's first symphony. Grand-Prix in the International piano competition “PIANO/FORTE” in Saint-Petersburg (Russia), 2020.
1st prize in the Viva-Music International competition in Moscow (Russia). As the award Andrei was assigned to perform in the Carnegie Hall in June of 2021.
1st prize in The Way to Master a Skill International Piano Competition in Moscow.
2nd prize in the second Europe-Asia International Piano Competition.
2nd prize in the International Competition developed for the Centennial Anniversary of the Saratov State Conservatory, the Silver Medal in the Seattle International Piano Festival and Competition and others.
He has also been awarded several government grants for his contributions to the arts. Additionally, he has participated in and has been recognized by many music projects, such as the River of Talents, a project funded by St. Petersburg’s Music House which is focused on discovering new talent. He later participated in a similar program in Moscow. Also, Andre become a member of concert organization in St. Petersburg «Osobnyak Myasnikova». Artists of that organization are very well-known musicians who perform all over the world.
Besides a Russian conservatory degree, Andrei also has a Master of Piano Performance degree from the University of Oregon and has taken additional classes at the Piano Academy in Lake Como, Italy.
He also taught and performed in St. Petersburg, Russia, at the Rimsky-Korsikov School of Music starting September 2020 until March 2023. https://andreiandreev.art/
