Sunday, October 13, 2 PM: Reading and Booksigning by Ilene English (formerly of Eugene), author of “Hippie Chick: Coming of Age in the Sixties.” In this memoir, a rebellious teenager finds her mother dead in the bathroom. To save her from living alone with a difficult father, her older sister sends her a one-way ttcket to San Francisco. It is 1963, and we are brought along as Ilene becomes immersed in the sixties during the earliest days of sexual freedom, psychedelic drugs, the jazz scene and rock and roll… Of particular interest to Eugenians, for many years Ilene was involved with the Eugene Saturday Market, including as Manager. Today, English is a licensed psychotherapist
